Just four days ago, I went hiking at dragon back and then ended at big wave bay. It was a very nice and easy hike.
Today I am off after the busy Christmas period and decided to go for another hike so looked up few places to hike in Hong Kong and decided to go for MacLehose trail and It shows 11 k but we ended up did 22k but it was totally worth it.
Starting Point — Pak Tam Chung
The dense vegetation marks the entrance to Sai Kung East Country Park and the 100 km MacLehose Trail. Set off from the roundabout next to the Pak Tam Chung Holiday Camp — consider stocking up here at the tuck shop before venturing into East Dam. And most of just walking on the road here – easy but this is just the beginning !
As you could see we are smiling to start our hike at sunny and chill day but with great hiking partners.
Constructed in the 1970s, High Island Reservoir is an architectural wonder that blends in with the geological grandeur of nature. Stroll along the dam for panoramic views of the reservoir, rolling peaks. This is also the gateway to the many geo-treasures of Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark.
Hexagonal rock columns
This huge wall of reddish hexagonal rock columns is only a fraction of an area of over 100 km2 of volcanic columns — a legacy of volcanic activities 400 million years ago.
And as you could see i was trying to climb up !
Few stunning photos was taken during the hike.
We spent 6 hours hiking and looked those stunning views just could not believe Hong Kong could be so diverse with food scenes, night life, fashion, a busy and fast pace cosmopolitan city could have such amazing hike trails ! Definitely there are more to be discovered ! This month I have done my half marathon 21 K and today another achievement 22k hike at MacLehose trail ! If you ask me, aren’t you tire? I would tell you sure ! But definitely worth it. My legs are definitely need to be rested but can’t wait for my next hike.
After the hike we stopped at the Sai Kung for really fresh seafood for our first meal of the day ! The whole day we have been eating ginger bread to stop us from hunger.
